Removal of an Israeli Flag (11/11/22)

Review Completed

What Happened

An undergraduate internationally themed dorm includes a display of flags of countries from all over the world. On or about Friday, November 11, an Israeli flag was taken from the display. No flags representing other countries were removed. Residential student leaders were notified and reported the incident.

At this time the offending party(ies) is/are unknown.

Targeting of people because of nationality or ancestry is form of discrimination. Furthermore, though the flag was a symbolic representation of a country, Jewish students felt particularly targeted because of the historical connection to Israel.
